Overpaid Athletes
Have you ever thought of how much money a professional athlete makes? The average NBA player makes $5.15 million and the president of the United States only makes $400,000. The player in the NBA makes the president of the United States look like he gets paid almost nothing. The money theses athletes are getting could be used for better things. This is why professional athletes are extremely overpaid.

Decreasing the pay of professional athletes could hinder the performance of athletes causing a gradual decline in talent and gross income to the sport. For example, lower paid athletes such as minor league baseball players do not receive nearly as much televised air time, merchandise, or sponsorships. Over time, it is possible

For example, the lowest paid player on the Bulls made $850,000 dollars in 2012. It is ludicrous that this player is getting paid more than double what the President of the United State of America per year for much less work and stress than what the president has to endure. Typically, the lowest paid player on any professional sports team does not receive any playing time. It is astonishing that one can sit on a bench and collect more money than the man that has one of the most stressful jobs in the entire world. The professional athletes receiving 19 million dollars to swing a bat at a ball or run a ball up a field are making more per game than the average American household makes in an entire decade. Also many athletes do not use their impressive income to make a positive difference within the United States instead they typically turn to living a high profile lifestyle that consists of lavish parties, expensive drugs, and excessive amounts of alcohol. Unfortunately, a lot of young children to young adults idiolize these professional athletes and look to them as their role models but as they grow and mature they find out the truth. This could have a severe negative on a child’s psyche. For example, this realization could have a negative impact because it has the potential to encourage children to strive to live a risky life style. It is unfortunate that many people chose overpaid professional

Players shouldn’t get paid millions of dollars like professional athletes, because why would players go on to try and play professionally. On the contrary they should deserve some type of revenue whether it's for clothes shopping, take someone out on a date, gas money, etc. For example that’s the same thing as me asking my friend to do something for me and he does all the work while I sit back and relax.…

The average salary of a professional NBA player is about 5.15 million dollars. When one takes this massive amount of dough and compares it to the average salary of a middle class citizen, which ranges from 42,000 dollars to 125,000 dollars, one would notice that the NBA player makes substantially more than the average citizen. Professional athletes should have smaller salaries because jobs that save lives get payed way less, ---, and the money they are getting could be used to help the community. When looking at the paychecks of athletes and the paychecks of people in the military or people who are doctors, you would realize, the athlete gets more money.
