Overdrive: A Personal Narrative

Beginning in ninth grade, my time for reading dropped exponentially. Amid the flood of homework, I had no time to enjoy myself, to simply sit and read. Even the process of obtaining the books takes too long, taking up time I usually spent studying for my next math test.
And then, Overdrive.com. During the next summer summer, I began a J. R. R. Tolkien odyssey, his Lord of the Rings series dragging me into Middle Earth. Abruptly, school neared, yet Tolkien’s novels still called to me, stretching out arms of soothing words. Determined to meet them halfway, I scoured cyberspace, until a link to Overdrive popped up through my library’s website. While I still love the experience of a real book, I opt for Overdrive during the school year. With a whole free library at my fingertips, I can fill any downtime with reading, even when walking home from school. As horizons expand, I continue to explore the fantasy genre during the summer, but in the school year, I delve into the classics, like Frankenstein.
