I signed up on the last day possible for the class because I knew that if I had given myself time to think about what I had done, I would have changed the class to something that I would have been more comfortable with. I admit, that isn’t much; the class was required in order for me to get my Associate’s Degree through the Sumner County Middle College High School Program in May 2017 so the sooner I took it the better, but I didn’t actually have to take it. Receiving the Associate’s degree right out of high school is the point of the …show more content…
Due to my parents’ previous decisions I am unable to live with them. My mother lost two of my siblings and I in 2010 due to neglect and being an addict before being a mother. She did not decide to attempt to win back custody of us until after my dad was in the process of getting us back; however, in the end what few attempts she put forth meant nothing because she never left her abusive partner. In the year that we were living with extended family, I was admitted into a hospital known as Rivendell Behavioral Health Hospital due to being a hazard to myself and possibly those around me, but because the extended family didn’t like the reasoning behind my admittance into the hospital, when I was discharged all my belongings were packed and I was sent to live with dad. I was only allowed into their house went the social worker would visit, all my attempts to tell her that I did not live with our aunt and uncle and that I would have to leave almost immediately after she did were not taken seriously because she apparently knew my

Carolyn and Louis Corbin were the names of the foster parents that decided to keep us without a "must return to owner" date. March of 1996, we enter their home with the expectations of leaving within the next couple of days. However, when I asked Mrs. Corbin what should I address her as and she responded "mom," I then knew that we have found the closest thing to having parents. My foster parents were the only family I knew at the time with exception of my biological mother, maternal grandmother, her kids and my…

During this summer session of ENGL101A, I have learned multiple ways to express myself through my writing. In fact, before signing up for this class, I did not know the proper way to compose an academic essay for a particular audience, and how to properly cite my sources. Nevertheless, after the short summer session, I am able to define my purpose and audience, analyze critically any piece of information, and write with proper citations and fewer grammatical errors with confidence. Through the short time of 5 weeks, I learned how to focus on my audience as well as how to define the purpose of my papers as academically as possible.…

On the first day of school, I remember walking into class and seeing all of the new people in my class. I also remember meeting all of my new teachers. I had no idea how much that I would learn, and I had no idea how much I would struggle to learn the new material. One particular class that I feel that I have learned a lot in is WHAP. Three years into my high school I hadn't gotten into the state of mind that most over achievers have. I had floated through high school thinking I was trying my very hardest to get good grades and become a consistently studious candidate of my school. However, no matter how hard I tried I failed I gave into all the distractions and used all my obstacles as excuses became frustrated and developed an attitude problem that I had created myself. Being a consistent 2.5 student wasn't satisfying or inspiring. Uniquely enough, I had decided to take challenging courses my junior year.…

I have become more proficient in some of my classes because I have tried my best to keep up with the work, but I have also been really bad and had my grades down because I keep having health problems. I have missed a lot of school days and that has really affected my grades for all my classes. The days that I have been in class I end up putting my head down for the reason I don't feel good and I dont have the energy to do my work or to learn something new because as much as I try my head started hurting more. I think I haven't grown in my classes like I wanted to and that's something that is really stressing me a lot because I really don't want to repeat the grade I really want to pass my freshman year and go to the next grade.…

The Grades Challenge Freshman year was a difficult year for my grades. I was failing a few classes and it seemed like the harder I focused on the percentage, the farther I got away from it. I talked to my teachers about how I could try to get my grades up and was simply told “you won’t get a better grade.” I was stuck with what I had is what I was told, and they ended up being right about that year. I was worried that maybe something was wrong; maybe I wasn’t as smart as I used to be.…

My philosophy of change is based mainly on the cognitive approach, but also draws from the psychoanalytical approach. By merging these two together, there is an importance placed on past experiences and how they shape behaviours, feelings and cognitions of the individual in the present. Once this is understood, the therapist can help the individual learn to problem solve, as well as develop new ways of coping with stressful events. My view of human nature is that we are largely influenced by our thoughts, which can be helpful or can cause problems.…

Throughout this semester of English 101, writing has become more of a skill than a struggle. Writing was a challenge that I dreaded when I chose to be in the course, nonetheless with time, I learned from my mistakes and was able to improve. This course made me very doubtful on whether I could be capable of even writing a paper that would provide me with a decent grade, but at the same time made me push myself in my writing technique. In the end, I can reflect that I learned from my mistakes and wrote papers that took time and dedication to accomplish. I learned from this class to be confident in my writing and make all the mistakes to receive the grade I want in the end.…

English 2010 has been a learning experience for me, I've been able to learn a lot about english that I did not know or work on before. With the first essay that we worked on I did a memoir I really enjoyed working on this paper, In class we were able to get freedom to add pictures to are pictures make it a little bit more creative I certainly was not used to this; I’ve been told my whole schooling experience that you have the intro and the conclusion and three body paragraphs. The memoir I was able to write to what I felt like I needed it to be, add pictures so it could appeal more to the eye when reading and also made it easier.…
