We defined Followership as the ability to effectively follow directions and being supportive of the efforts of a great leader in order for them to run a structured organization. We consider followers as employees who follow a leader’s direction and are submissive to orders and guidance. Followers are a vital part of leadership. Put simply, leaders would not exist without followers, and in extreme situations, organizations could even fail. This report will discuss overcoming unhealthy motivations from bad leadership. The Bible says, “Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good” (Rom.12:21 King James Version).

For a long time people have been following leaders for the wrong reasons. These harmful incentives persuade people to accept and sustain terrible leaders. “Toxic followership makes toxic leadership possible” (Johnson, 2012, p. 277). It is very hard to overcome unhealthy motivations. Bad habits are like leeches and they suck the life out of most of us. Bad habits disrupt your life and stop you from achieving your goals. They endanger your health, both mentally and physically. The Bible says, “Submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7 English Standard Version). In addition, they interrupt your schedules and liveliness. You can teach yourself original and beneficial alternatives on dealing with them, that you can then replace with your poor behavior. The Bible says, “To put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness” (Eph 4:22-24 English Standard Version).
