Overcoming The Overachiever

Decent Essays
The topic I have chosen to write about is a time when I succeeded in something. This is very important to me because it helped me become the overachiever I am today. This event was my High school award night I got the highest award in the school. I was very proud of myself and so were my parents. When I look back on this moment and remember that I achieved a high goal that no one in my senior class has ever achieved it was the best moment in my life.

I've chosen a topic that is not really talked about or taught fully in the school systems in society today. We have only learned a minimal of what they want us to know. We all have learned about Martin Luther King, Jackie Robinson, and Harriett Tubman in grade school. And we've learned that black people were slaves and sometimes heroes but they all had one thing in common they were suffering, but none were presented as conquerors scholars.…

The topic that I chose was the 2004 NBA Detroit Pistons & Indiana Pacers brawl; it was also known as the Malice at the Palace which occurred on November 19, 2004. The reason why I picked this event is because it changed the history of the NBA, and it also made a deep impact on the teams, players, and their fans; it also caused the organization to lay down different ground rules, while it also lead to a security increase at the arenas for the safety of the players and the fans while also limiting the use of alcohol. Sources say that this brawl still remains as “the most infamous brawl in NBA history;” in my opinion, any short brawl in the NBA will never top the Malice at the Palace because there have not been any brutal fights these past seasons,…

My topic is over The Oregon Trail, it was a 2,200-mile east-west trail that served as a critical transportation route for emigrants traveling from Missouri to Oregon and other points west during the mid-1800s. Travelers were inspired by dreams of gold and rich farmlands, but they were also motivated by difficult economic times in the east and the diseases like yellow fever and malaria that were decimating the Midwest around 1836. The Oregon Trail began in St. Louis, Missouri, in early spring to begin the four- to six-month trek. This would be the last big city most would visit. Settlers loaded wagons and supplies onto steamships to travel 200 miles upstream on the Missouri River, departing when the river began heading north.…

Before writing, I thought about my audience. Considering my audience will be my professors, I need to add plenty of details while keeping my writing style formal. Then, I had to consider the genre. Since it is a literacy narrative, my writing has to be about a significant event in my life that involved reading, writing, or language. With that in mind, it prompted me to mention my English learning experience in preschool and how my teacher has encouraged me.…
