Overcoming Struggles In Shaka Senghor's TED Talk

Another example of a person overcoming their struggles was Shaka Senghor. In his TED Talk he explains his story of how he was an honor roll student with a dream to become a doctor. However, because of the environment he was in, it caused him to make bad decisions. At the young age of 19, Senghor killed a man while dealing drugs in Detroit. He then found himself in jail, and soon after, in solitary confinement. While in solitary confinement, he started thinking,“ As I sat in my cold cell, I felt helpless, unloved and abandoned. I felt like nobody cared, and I reacted with hostility to my confinement. And I found myself getting deeper and deeper into trouble.” He saw no way for his life to be turned around.
