For the week beginning on 28 August 2017 and ending on the 1 September 2017, I used two different types of weekly planners. One was focused more on the classes and total hours of work throughout the day, while the other was more of a checklist of what was done in a day. I liked the way the first planner was less list-like, but it didn’t allow room for more than the core subjects. That left me confused on where to place community meetings, advising, and electives. Also, there was no section for what’s due that week.…

Within my current organization we have annual reviews. Although it proves to be very effective for my department, it does not always prove to be effective for other departments. I have the luxury of a working relationship with my boss. She and I have the privilege of conversing whenever need be.…

My administrative project goal focused on collaboration and working on our curriculum with my English department 9-12. Personally, this has been an area that I wanted to focus on for years because I felt that each ELA teacher was not able to move forward when it came to developing a viable curriculum. As teachers, we were planning on an individual grade level, but we were not specifically aware of what our colleagues were doing. For example, questions like: How much research was being done with students? , Who was practicing the skill of close reading?…
I grew up on a large amount of acreage out in the country with my parents and my older brother. I was constantly running around outside exploring everything in nature, rarely watching TV. I really enjoyed learning what things were made of and how everything fit together in the world. Both of my parents were very loving and supportive. They cared and worried about me all the time, but yet let me make my own decisions and decide on my own, who I wanted to be.…
Was the objective specific enough for you to have a focus? - Yes, the objective was specific enough for me to have a focus. I was easily able to describe the impact of inventions, including the cotton gin, the reaper, the steamboat, and the steam locomotive, on life in America. Students were also able to demonstrate their knowledge of westward expansion and reform in America from 1801 to 1861 by describing those same inventions.…
College students should manage their time and they should keep a regular routine to facilitate the achievement of their goals. Attending to a college is an amazing experience, but it has many challenges that every student must overcome and one of them is managing their time. Nothing helps a college student more than to stay organized with a good calendar. The calendar will help the student remember all the important assignments and events that the student must do and attend. The calendar will become their external memory.…
Year-Round School Students who attend year-round school are in the classroom for a certain number of weeks and are given short breaks frequently. Some people feel discouraged by year-round schooling because they fear children will be tackling multiple activities at once, causing overpowering stress (“The Pros and Cons of Year-Round Schools”). Others, however, feel confident in year-round school because it provides children with a better opportunity to remember the lessons they’ve learned instead of forgetting them over the course of two months. Year-round schooling would be beneficial for students.…
What do you need to know in order to begin your lesson planning for a class? It starts with the curriculum based on the state learning standards, from these we derive our objectives for each unit, and then finally each unit objective is broken down into individual lesson goals. Planning each lesson requires examining these goals, preparing learning activities around them, and a method of assessing student understanding. Then developing an introduction and flow for the instructional activities, keeping in mind the amount of class time and materials…
Those who crave it, must work hard. Many assignments and exams start to increase, eventually, becoming more than most can handle. When school work becomes overwhelming, it becomes difficult to balance a social life, or even a career. For me, I began using weekly and monthly calendars as tools to keep track of all important events and due dates. In this class I have learned a key factor to my success is time management.…
Introduction The time I spent with my student during our tutoring sessions gave me a first-hand experience of how it is like on a student to teacher level. I learned a lot from my student, Kade, as I hope he also learned from me. During this time, I was able to observe his strengths and his weakness. I had to be flexible to cater my lesson plan to my student, so he could build upon what he learned and advance through more challenging activities.…
She told me this is a learning year for her. Therefore, she uses the class textbook as the main guide for her learning objectives and goals, because they are already explained at the beginning of each chapter. She bases her lectures off each section of the book and has her students complete a worksheet at the end of her lesson. For her year book class it is a little more difficult to have a lesson plan because, there are not any lectures or daily assignments. However, the students in this class are responsible for working on their assigned yearbook pages and completing them by the deadline.…
