Overcoming obstacles in life helps to develop who people are and who they ultimately become. How these challenges are handled either strengthen or weaken individuals in their personal life, as well as professional life. Often times one must fail in order to overcome obstacles. Regardless, having strong support mechanisms in place can determine one’s level of resiliency when dealing with life’s situations (Harrington, 2012).

While it is ultimately one’s own decision on how they handle life’s obstacles, there are certain factors that influence how these challenges are met.
