Overcoming Life’s Obstacles Obstacles are an everyday occurrence in life. Some are small occurrences causing short- lived distress, while others seem to shake us to our very core. I have had my fair share of problems both large and small and I have found that the most difficult obstacle I have yet to overcome to be economic hardship. My present situation is of great financial need and I am doing everything in my power to alter my circumstances one day at a time. Since the age of seventeen I have been on my own mentally and financially. My father, who I lived with, passed away and I was left on my own to sustain oneself in the world. My dream does come with a heavy price and an even heavier weight on my shoulders to bare. The scholarship being presented would be such a blessing towards my educational goals and any amount of help from a kind organization would be used wisely to propel myself forward toward becoming the Nurse I have always longed to be. I plan to utilize my skills as a Registered Nurse to assist in the relief of pain and suffering in others. A person such as myself is best suited for a career in Nursing because I am an individual that has experienced first-hand much pain and suffering throughout my life. In the face of adversity, I have risen above and wish to use my experience to care for society. I will also continue to aid in community service through health care volunteer work. One of my many goals includes being a part in some way of cancer research projects, blood donation drives, and organ donations. My education will not end at this point because I am going to go on to pursue future degrees and certifications. I realize that the health care field is ever changing and new technologies are continuously advancing and I must keep pace. As a Registered Nurse, my life will become more stable. I plan on investing in a home in the Fair Lawn, NJ area and paying off my student loan debt to become a more valuable part of a working society. My future plans revolve around my commitment to the field of Nursing
