I my center we encourage our students parents by coming into the classroom, to share an recipe, a family game, read a book from their culture, and or share an experience of how their family practices things of their culture. The reason we include the parents to share from their own visons, of how it is portrayed and shared with in their own family. We did have a career day that allowed the students to ask anyone from their families to come and share what they do for a career. Like Hobson’s mom taught her, “Mellody, you can be anything. And because of those words… I dreamed the biggest dreams,” (Hobson, 2014). But a current obstacle I do have in my classroom is how to assist children that dint have a father in their life.
