Overcoming Obstacles Of Growing Up In A Home

Growing up in a household with a single parent can be difficult in a child's eye. Looking up to one person can actually define who you will be in the future. All my life I grew up just with my mother and sister, no one else besides my grandparents. From the time I was able to crawl, walk and speak my Mother has been the only parent in my life. After my mother and father divorced things were difficult. Financially we struggled, and unable to have access to many things. For a very long time, my mother went without a job and had to rely on others to make sure my sister and I had food, clothes, a bed, a roof over our head. Many things happened while getting back on our feet and living a normal, healthy lifestyle as a three-person family. To overcome my obstacles I had to help my family, become the “man of the house”, and to try and get a good education.

I am grateful for learning the definition of hard working and determination self -hand, by having the role model that I have, watching my sister go away to college, my mother finding a job, and now me, going to college and continuing my life as the man my past and pushed me modeled me to be. In summation, these optimistic words by Michael Jordan “Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.” demonstrate how to defeat your obstacle. From my perspective, I have conquered and annihilated my obstacles. There are many events I have joined to make myself a better person and I am getting a good education. Even if there will be much more to come I am willing and ready to face them to make me more of a man than I already
