Overcoming Obstacles Of Falling In Love In High School

Everybody has hard things that they go through in life. I've had many, but this certain one I had was just another obstacle I had to get past. Falling in love in high school, hiding it from my parents, but what else is there really to it? When I was in the 9th grade, I found somebody that I truly love, but I had to hide the relationship with my boyfriend from my parents because they were racist. We have been dating for three years and he has helped me accomplish a lot. Before I met him, I was a mountainous mess and there was a lot of complication for me. I didn't care about school, I was in drama and I also wanted to drop out of high school. He showed me how and why school was important, now I care and now I am here striving for my high school diploma. I now care about my life and have real goals. He really made me realize that you can't just do whatever you want and get things for free, you have to do things to earn it. I know that love at a young age is something you do not look for, but I didn't look for it. It just happened and it is like we are meant to be.

Being together for a long time and hiding the relationship from my parents was a very difficult thing. I eventually told them after two years. When I was in the 11th grade, a couple months before the summer started, I told my mother about the boy I have been dating but I told her in a text message on my phone. I wish they weren't because nobody should be. Everybody is human and everybody is the same. One day when I went to school, I was talking to an African American woman about the situation and she told me not to hate my parents because that is how they were raised and it isn't their fault. I love my parents and I will always respect them, I just do not like their ways. I just wish racism never existed, it really hurts me knowing that that's how people are in this irrational
