Overcoming Obstacles In Death Crawl

Decent Essays
After watching the “Death Crawl” directed by Alex Kendrick I think that it shows a very important statement of overcoming obstacles in 3 ways, Motivation, Hard work, and believing in yourself.
First of all overcoming obstacles will have to include motivation. In the scene the “Death Crawl” from Facing Giants Brock has to do the death crawl and wants to stop but that is what his head said not his body so he keeps on going all the way. The coach said to Brock “Keep going Brock I know you can do it push yourself!” This shows that Brock showed major endurance and motivation to get all the way to the end zone. When you are overcoming obstacles we can think one can not do than you need to work and think better than we did before. Working hard

Perseverance is essential for success in this world. This is what I think the authors of the two books I read were trying to tell the readers in their stories, ‘The Giver’ by Lois Lowry and ‘Legend’ by Marie Lu. In these stories the characters, Day and Jonas, however very different, are, like many things much more similar than you think. Jonas rebels against the ‘government’ in the community. He wants everyone to have memories and see color.…

Growing up on a ranch changes people; not only physically but down in your soul. This lifestyle teaches you to appreciate the little things in life. When you don’t come from much and you work hard for what you have it makes you look at the world in a different light. This was the case for the main character in “Ranch Girl” by Maile Meloy; life on the ranch shaped her. The circumstances of her life have made her staunch, melancholy, and apathetic.…

The Crevasse “Adversity is the source of our deepest growth and greatest blessings; embrace it, dare to seek It,” that was a quote from Aron Ralston, who fell down a crevasse and his arm was wedged under a rock, which inspired the movie “127 Hours.” One day I was going to the creek with my friends, Matthew and Kendal, to hang out. We had this amazing spot that had a bridge that we made and everything. We were bringing further supplies to add on to the spot and make it look more visually appealing. When we arrived at the park we brought all of the supplies down under a bridge.…

One must possess perseverance in order to survive. This trait is valued by some, but often overlooked in today’s society. The trait is comparable to the philosophy of “survival of the fittest”. In other words, one must keep going in order to keep going. In the short story “John Colter’s Race For Life”, Stanley Vestal paints a picture of how important perserverance really is.…

Those are all qualities that help people overcome obstacles. The articles “The Contender” by Derek Burnett, “Paralympic Star Makes History On NBA Stage” by E. Lancaster, and “Life in the Red” by Benedict Carey all show how people overcame obstacles to achieve their dreams. After reading and annotating articles about a determined Kyle Maynard, a motivational speaker Blake Leeper, and the patient LaKeisha community, one could make the choice to be strong, to have a positive attitude, and to ‘cut out’ what’s not important. In turn, these strategies can help one achieve one’s dreams, overcome life’s obstacles, and be resourceful in helping one achieve their goals so that one day they may become the person they want to be.…

The first time I viewed the movie Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, it stayed in my thoughts for at least a week. As it may come off quite comical and seemingly too quirky, the story incases a message grasping the theme of undying love. The main character, Scott, first comes to terms with his superficial relationship with his adorable, yet naive girlfriend, Knives Chao. His passion for music and his alternative rock band then leads him to the other protagonist, Ramona, the heartthrob. From the moment he notices her, he believes with all his heart that she is his soulmate.…

Over the years and years spent on studying mythology, Joseph Campbell came up with the concept of The Hero’s Journey. The Hero’s Journey states that all hero’s travel in a similar path and go through many similar stages that’ll lead them to their reward. However, not every hero’s journey has to involve obstacles as in slaying a dragon or trying to save the world. In my case, I had to do nothing but trying to make it through sixth grade year. Sadly, sixth grade was the year that I faced the most challenges, real world challenges at least.…
