Overcoming An Obstacle Course

Decent Essays
As a current student at SUNY Old Westbury, my fulfilled success and endeavors symbolizes who I am. This is because last semester, I had worked and studied enough by showing up to every class on time by doing my daily assignments every single day without procrastinating. During Midterm week, I had faced obstacle courses for my Ethics of Engagement and EL1000 class that I needed to participate in class and to write my essays efficiently. Finally, I had overcome my obstacle courses by participating in class more and I had learned how to improve my writing by receiving assistance/feedback at the Writing Center every week.

At an early age, I didn’t understand the concept of an immigrant family and that our resources were very limited. It wasn’t until I got older, that I finally understood and recognized the struggle that my family went and still continues to go through. My realization began when I was about 11-years old and I noticed that my father not only worked for his own small gardening service, but that he also took my older brothers to work with him. I knew it was a time for serious measures because my brothers started helping my father when they were close to my age, and they continued throughout their whole school years. Everything was going normal in my family then, we rented a house that was in the name of my aunt, had enough money for the bills,…

Ignore Obstacles Through the 10 years of me going to school, learning, and ‘overcoming obstacles’ ; I’ve never thought anything i had to do or ‘overcome’ as an obstacle. I usually go by my life as it is: learn, do my work, and take it easy. I believe that we shouldn’t stress nor worry about such ‘obstacles’. We should instead not think of them as obstacles but just ignore it and ‘get through with it’.…

I feel that I was able to accomplish this because of my hard work and great feedback that I have received from my classmates. My other important goal I had for myself was to fix all of my grammar errors which have haunted me throughout my entire educational career. I am most certain that I accomplished this goal mostly because of the help of my handbook without it I might have still been lost. I mostly feel proud of how well I did in my narrative essay because that was a first for me and was also the one that stressed me out the most. After completing it I found that it was really not that difficult the basic thing is just to tell a story about yourself and adding sources to provide backup.…

As I wandered the streets, I met many kind and helpful people. However, some of the strangers did not have benevolent hearts and I was kidnapped twice.…
