In every book there's always a lesson that will relate to you. Throughout the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee the characters face many problems throughout part 1 in the book. From being made fun of to seeing and hearing racist comments. But the most important lesson learned is that people can overcome adversity and is shown through characterization, symbolism and punctuation. The author shows how to overcome adversity in the book through characterization. In book the characters face many difficulties throughout the way. For example when Jean was getting yelled at by Miss. Caroline she stated “You’re starting off on the wrong foot in every way, my dear. Hold out your hand,”(Lee 28). This quote proves how school is difficult for her
