Overcoming obstacles/adversity is a theme, which is explored in a vast majority of texts. The theme I have chosen to write about is “overcoming obstacles/adversity.” The texts I have chosen that portray this theme are the film Empire of the sun, by Steven Spielberg, The book Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins, in addition to the songs Titanium, by David Guetta Feat Sia, finally, growing pains, by Astro.

The film Empire of the sun portrays the story of a 12-year-old boy named Jamie Graham who reside in Shanghai, China in the year 1941. Throughout the duration of the movie, Jamie has to face many obstacles as the Japanese take control of Shanghai.
