In my opinion, parents need to wait until their child can pick what sport they want to play or whether they want to play at all. Most children who start playing sports a young age are visiting the doctor’s office and hospital more due to sport related injuries. According to KidsHealth.org, “young children are more susceptible to injury because they are less coordinated and have slower reaction times”. Not only does overbearing parents take away from the child but it also takes the fun away from the other children on the team and the coach. No one likes to be the kid of the parents who are constantly yelling at team, referees and coach, it’s embarrassing and takes the fun away from everyone. Jay Stark, high school coach and two year NFL coach says that “It becomes a losing battle when there are half a dozen parents yelling instructions from the sidelines.
