Ovatniah Roland Smith Analysis

She wished they had followed their hunger to a gloriously warm place like Arizona. If they had, she thought, I would be half Apache right or, or Hopi, and Navajo, sitting next to the sun, watching lizards bac on desert rocks.Rachel Vail and Roland Smith are both great authors. Roland Smith has written a book named, “Ovatniah” which is about a girl named Marie who s going on a trip with her mother to see her grandmother, Aanaq Wasuli for the summer. Her grandmother is also looking for ivory, (tusks) so Marie has a long journey waiting for her. Rachel Vail on the other hand is an author the has written a book called, “Good Enough” which is about a girl named Dori who is trying to fit in. Her birthday is coming up and she is begging for a shirt that everyone else wears.Both of the stories have similarities and differences, such as the setting.Both of the stories have a similarity which is conflict. …show more content…
I’ve come across old dirty nose twice”(Smith 24).We must conclude that Marie is somewhere very cold because she is in a place with her grandmother that has seen polar bears before. So maybe Antarctica.Dori had been starting school and did not want to be left behind.On page 11 it said, “It was the first week of school, and it’s important to me to make a good start, not fall behind.”Sentence Starter!!! Dori does not want anything to happen to her on her first day of school. School is a very big deal towards Dori because she wants everything to be okay. In conclusion the stories have a different setting in both of the passages.Therefore, “Good Enough” and “Ovatniah” both have similarities and differences.Both of the protagonists in the stories have an internal conflict. Meanwhile, the setting is a difference is the stories.Finally, now that the audience is full of information, go snuggle up with both of the stories
