In the DemocracyNow! Report on April 5th, 2017, Amy Goodman reported on chemical weapons attack in the northern province of Idlib. It was recorded as the largest chemical attack in Syria since 2013 where the death toll is at seventy-two. Even though countries like the United States, France, and Britain have accused the Assad government of carrying out the attack and even condemns the attack at the United Nations Security Council meeting, the White House Press Secretary, Sean Spicer states that the United States will not change its position and will not get Assad out of power. This highlights Donald Trump’s presidency and his failures to get involved in international relations. U.S. Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson suggested that “President …show more content…
report on April 6th, 2017, Nermeen Shaikh reported on President Donald Trump and his support for Bill O’Reilly. Lawsuits were carried out by five women who alleged that Bill O’Reilly, a Fox News host, sexually harassed them. In response to these lawsuits, Fox News paid $13 million to settle the case. In the Oval Office interview, President Trump supported O’Reilly stating that “I don’t think he did anything wrong . . . he is a good person”. Civil rights attorney Lisa Bloom, who represented Dr. Wendy Walsh who accused O’Reilly of the sexual assault speaks out about the sexual advances. Lisa Bloom also represented Jill Harth, a Florida business associate of Trump who sued Trump for sexual harassment. These lawsuits who accused Trump of sexual assault parallels O’Reilly’s lawsuits in which both men disregarded women and treated them as sex objects. We find Trump’s comment disturbing, in which he does not think that sexual harassment is wrong. Again, this brings back to Trump’s previous statements in which he bragged about sexual assault. Ultimately, a President defending O’Reilly and bragging about his sexual assault allegations highlights and sets a precedent that sexual harassment is the norm. Not only does this violate women's rights, it teaches youth to tolerate and undermine the lives of women and treat them as second-class

It’s not something we can just sweep under the rug. This wasn’t just locker-room banter. And I have to tell you that I listen to all of this and I feel it so personally, and I’m sure that many of you do too, particularly the women. The shameful comments about our bodies.…

Men, women and all members of the LGBTQ community should be involved in this issue, as both the survivors and those accused. DeVos also attempts to back her statement regarding how accused parties are treated by mentioning that some men have attempted suicide. Assuming the party is guilty, many would see this attempt as a way to escape further punishment for a heinous crime. Although Betsy DeVos has not yet explicitly stated which components of Title IX she plans to rewrite, her announcement has already caused havoc among sexual assault survivors, support and awareness groups, and former political figures.…

Clinton's presidency was a seemingly long hard road. During his second term as President, He was impeached due to charges of lying under oath to a grand jury and obstruction of justice. However, the real underlying reason for the impeachment was Clinton’s denial of the Lewinsky Affair. The public opinion of the Lewinsky Affair allowed the Republican party to create a political strategy to use against Clinton. “Contending that Clinton had committed perjury, Republican leaders made the affair the centerpiece of their quest to defeat Democrats in the 1998 congressional elections” (Jansson, 2012,p.398).…

If men stand up to each other this silence can be broken. This abuse can be diminished if men start considering this not just a women’s issue but a man’s as well. The concepts that are efficiently used in this speech are the rhetorical cannon of Monroe’s Sequence of Events, the use of non-factual sources, rhetorical devices, and clever attention getters.…
