The title is sufficient to the article but is misleading in the sense that it leads people to believe there are multiple examples of outstanding women engineers in the article. Throughout the article there is mainly one example of a woman engineer and all of her accomplishments throughout her career. The title of this article should have been more along the lines of gender bias in engineering and science. This would’ve given people a better idea to what the article is about. The author does believe that there is gender bias for engineers and scientists but she backs up this information with statistics and facts. In the article “Outstanding women in mechanical engineering” Yin says that women make up 46.1% of the general workforce as of 2000 but only make up 25.4% of the science and engineering workforce. This percentage could stray women from working in this field because it is made up of mostly men.
