Outsourcing is referenced at numerous times during the presidential debate by Donald Trump which is now well known phrase “Make America great again”. Overall, outsourcing has become a controversial issue since it has both benefits and deficits.
The most significant advantages towards offshore outsourcing for companies are being able to focus on core activities, cost savings, improving performance, and time zone advantages. Being able to focus on core activities is beneficial because it is essentially being at two places at once. Instead of focusing on the technical side of your company, this would free up priorities and enable companies to set their focus on other objectives such as: building their brand, invest in research and development and moving to higher core tasks as well [Advantages and Disadvantages]. All three presidential candidates addressed offshore outsourcing to various degrees. Such as Bernie Sanders who brought up the Outsourcing Prevention Act, Trump administration with their tariffs, and Hillary who seemed neutral in my eyes. Sander’s goal with his prevention act is completely putting an end to all foreign companies from sending jobs overseas. The act also includes strict tariffs such as a 35% tax or stricter tariffs. His goal with the act was having the United States bring back “ good paying jobs back to the United States of America”. By doing this, he plans to stop all foreign and to bring them back into America. As for Donald Trump on the other hand, the Trump administration has discussed relaxing business regulations and backing away from campaign pledges to impose tariffs on companies that move jobs abroad, according to the New York Times.
