Sade Adu once said “I think you only really feel like an outsider if you’ve been an insider.” S.E. Hinton thinks that the greasers are outsiders. In the book The Outsiders people only think of greasers as no good J.D. hoods when they are real people with real problems. Randy stands out from other Socs because he is less violent and he shows his emotions. First and foremost, randy is less violent than other Socs. Randy does not like to be violent and fight. Hinton states, “’I’m not going to show at the rumble tonight’” (Hinton 115). Randy is unlike other Socs because they all like to fight while Randy is less violent and does not want to fight and will not fight.
