Outside Of The Classroom Analysis

In Gills main points he writes about how people are not learning effectively during their schooling. I agree with what the author is writing about, that the education system has been cultured in ways that may not be particularly realistic. People in school often worry more about the grade than actually retaining the information given to them. I think this is more of a problem now, seeing as assignment and test are put online to complete and the answers are easily accessed through the textbook or the web. People have adapted to relying on technology so much which leads to loss of creativity. There is so much learning to do outside of the classroom, from my experiences I was lucky enough to have people in my life that helped me grasp real learning

Throughout the year AVID has helped me learn organizational skills enormously. I say this because at the beginning of the year I didn’t know how I was going to complete all the work I received and I didn’t really understand the time management part. So as we started getting more and more homework, I found it was important to use your planner and to do your homework the night it was assigned. Several times I fell into a whole on Thursday nights, when we had binder the next day.…

Peolple often ask us "what makes you happy? " Our answers differ from family, friends, schools, but what if they asked us, what makes us happy at this moment, what makes us happy that doesn't involve family and friends, what if we had to think of a place a country, a town a city. I'd have an answer for that.…

In Jean-Luc Nancy’s text “Listening”, Nancy discusses the concept of listening and how it relates to philosophy. Originally published in French and translated into English by Charlotte Mandell, Mandell discusses in the first section of the text how difficult it was to convey and translate Nancy’s message into English. In Luce Irigaray’s text “Listening, Thinking, Teaching”, she discusses the idea of translation and how difficult it can be to translate properly. On page 232 of her text, Irigaray states “words are endowed with another meaning in each language” (Irigaray 232). Because each word has a different meaning in each language, errors often occur when words are translated.…

Pratt’s and Freire’s idea on the Educational System The education many Americans receive today isn’t very helpful. When there is a test that needs to be studied for teachers tell the kids what they are going to need to know. Therefore, kids simply memorize the information for that one test and once it’s over the information quickly leaves the students’ heads. This is what our education has been reduced to. We no longer take the time to understand or realize what we’re reading.…

The two key areas of practice I aim to develop throughout this module, are to enhance my understanding of wider contextual influences within the industry. I aim to do this by focusing on research and analysis of the things I need to improve my knowledge on, so that I can become a more efficient and well-rounded developer. Secondly, I wish to expand my overall development skills through putting my research and analysis into practice. I hope to do this by setting myself side tasks to push my boundaries further.…

Molly Clark is a woman with a background in commercial art who was hired to teach for the first time at an all girls private school. She was hired due to her interdisciplinary model lesson that she taught during her interview that the school thought was very creative. Clark was placed in a eleventh grade English class and given the difficult task to have her students read the play, Macbeth, by Shakespeare (Silverman, Welty, & Lyon, 1996, p.77). Although Clark was initially told she would be able to choose what literature was covered in her class, the principal forced Clark to cover Shakespeare in her class. Clark felt very overwhelmed with this task for a multitude of reasons.…

Elements of Education Is everyone enrolled in an elementary or secondary school getting a quality education? How much of what students are learning even stays with them into adulthood? In fact, the things that do stay with us and help us in our everyday lives, no matter what we choose as our career path, are seldom taught in most schools. Classes can become monotonous bore where only those with great memories and rigorous study habits succeed.…

1.) I would use a longitudinal study to test children in this elementary school over time. Since an observational study is based on collecting data from samples, I would design a questionnaire asking children how much time they spend on mathematical learning applications (math apps) and some representative math problems for testing their mathematical reasoning skill. More specifically, children are going to be asked by questionnaires repeatedly (6 times in three years). The independent variable is children’s exposure to interactive mathematical learning applications, which is measured by the question of “how much time per week you spend on mathematical learning applications”; the dependent variable is children’s mathematical reasoning skills,…

    Get Good Grade Analysis

To me this quote means that getting good grades is only HALF of your education. Having a good character is the other half. For example, one day after my soccer team had just lost everyone was mad. They wouldn’t say “good game” when they high fived the other team, except me because I had learned a lesson. I learned that even though it hurts to lose you still need to be a good sport.…

I enjoyed reading your post. I liked how you supported your use of validity in your preschool classroom. Validity is important to make sure student scores are trustworthy (McMillan, 2012). While reading this section for this week I kept on going back to the assessments my district uses for evaluating students for special education. We use the Woodcock Johnston IV, which is considered to be a valid and reliable source of information for achievement scores.…

His last point is a point that looks at the solution (in his point of view) that we would be more towards problems, projects, and question rather than facts, skills, and disciplines one in which can let students and teachers to be part of the course and find new ways to educate students. He also points out that it is a better idea to remodel the current education system, and that the current system of low quality education is also found with low quality testing. The main solution to this problem is this we should get the five “habits of mind” which are evidence (epistemology), point of view (leave little to no room for doubt/ perspective toward any representations), connections (relationships between one to another), supposition (other possibilities), and relevance (is this truly important). I have both agreement and disagreement with this article. I agree that we have a problem with our education, but there are some…

For many years people have been programmed to believe that everything that was taught in a classroom would lead us to a bright and youthful future. But, time and time again, research has proven otherwise when being compared to other countries. Not to mention, being a subject of these institutions of higher learning and growing up in the public school systems, I have come the realization that the public schools were intentionally designed for those who are not at the aristocratic level to fail. In fact, in actuality, the real purpose of education is not to educate its subjects, but socialize them, but I will explain this later in this essay. As a whole, our education system has failed us through our politicians, psychologist, and pharmaceutical…

Making content accessible is on my top ten list of crucial aspects of being a great teacher. When I think about content that is accessible, my mind goes to tasks that have more than one access point. In many math classrooms across the nation, there are a variety of skills that come with students that need to be taken into consideration when looking at curriculum. I believe that the best mathematical tasks are those that allow a student who is two or three level below grade level and a student at grade level to access the problem from their perspective and skill level. Tasks that are accessible by a variety of levels prove that there are different ways to solve a math problem even if it is connected to a certain grade level standard.…
