Outside Of School

I strongly believe that schools should not be allowed to monitor students’ social networking outside of school because it is none of their business unless it has to do with the school itself or one of its students. The parents are the ones who should regulate it if necessary. It also violates the students’ privacy. First of all, if it’s not on campus or during school hours, why should they be monitoring the students’ social media. It is none of their business what the student does outside of school unless it has to do with the school or another student. I can understand if they monitor one or two children just in case of a threat, but monitoring the entire school is going a bit far. Students that I know use sarcasm a lot. When you're on social media, sarcasm doesn't usually sound the same. If you're monitoring the student and they exaggerate or say something that isn't really what they mean, you might automatically jump to conclusions and do something extreme like expel them. …show more content…
As far as I know, I do not think the school is related to the child. They are not the parent or guardian, and they do not have the right to the child. They might have some authority over the child, but it is limited to during school hours and when the child is at school. They don't have the authority to invade the child's privacy outside of school. If you do want to monitor a student you should get permission from their parent, and I highly doubt that a parent will like you snooping around in their child’s and their business.
