Introduction:

Formerly called Time Warner Cable now better known as Spectrum, is an American tv and internet cable company. The company was first formed in 1992 by Time Inc. tv cable company. The company offers their services in about 42 different states and regions. They have several different positions offered at this job. There is corporate, management, customer service, network operations, sales and operating, product, and field operations positions available. As a field technician, I am part of the field operations. is a global leader in media and entertainment with businesses in television networks, film and TV entertainment. They use their industry-leading operating scale and brands to create, package and deliver high-quality content worldwide on a multi-platform basis. The company focuses primarily on creating new value for the company by leveraging data, taking valuable consumer insights and providing new technology platforms. I believe I can fit in under the more technical aspects of the work for this company. As a field level technician one it is key for me to understand how the product works and functions. This allows me to think critically, identify and solve issues and prepares me to work efficiently when it comes to further application such as, the installment process. For this reason, I believe this company has a great learning atmosphere because they have a lot to teach and offer. There was a required four week training designed for technicians to understand the fundamentals of RF theory in cable industry as well as hands on training of performing installations. During the remainder of this portfolio I will be explaining what I have learned from my Spectrum training and how it has helped me and shaped me in becoming an exceptional technician and employee.

Coaxial Cable:

Coax cable is used to transmit electrical signals over wire lines which requires the use of two conductors to complete the circuit. The wires carrying the very delicate electrical currents conveying the telephone conversation for example can be exposed to external interference. One of the main responsibilities of a technician is to avoid this external interference also known as ingress or egress of signal. The uses of coaxial cable extend to any application in which signal loss and attenuation must be kept to a minimum, or in which the elimination of outside interference is important.

Being on the field a technician comes across many different types of cables. To identify the right cable, technician has to look for cables made strictly to U.S. Government specifications that can be marked with the RG
