He has impressed an abundant amount of people and still continues to do so. Eliot is famous for his critiques on the modern society and the portrayal of despair. He opens the eyes of many when he explains the reality of today’s world and gives a new perspective every time one reads his creations. Out of the poems he wrote, the one that exceeds many expectations is his popular poem “The Hollow Men.” “The Hollow Men” by T.S Eliot, represents three messages.
T.S Eliot, wrote “The Hollow Men,” and brought forth the message that today’s individuals have become hollow. We are no longer a society full of meaningful information. T.S Eliot elaborates by saying, “Our dried voices, when we whisper together are quiet and meaningless as wind in dry grass (lines 5-8).” In other words, the people included in modern times have no importance in their conversations. This message was quite confusing at first because of the fact death scares most for obvious reasons. However, once read, it’s clear as day what T.S Eliot is trying to say. Eliot explains, “those who have crossed with direct eyes, to death's other kingdom remember us- if not all- not as lost violent sounds but only as the hollow men (lines 14-17).” He really means, we are only afraid to die because we have to meet those who have already passed. The world has changed immensely in the past one hundred years and would be insane to those who have died. Imagine meeting your grandparents, grandparents. They would think the life you lived was worthless since your biggest worry was having a date to prom. We aren't afraid of death because of the end, but because of the people we may encounter when we get
