Technology has provided new ways of receiving insulin aside from multiple daily injections. Insulin pumps have allowed diabetics to have a better quality of life, more freedom, and above all better control. The OmniPod system is the first tubeless insulin pump. The process of changing your OmniPod and gaining more self-confidence, freedom, and better control can be completed in a few simple steps.
The first step is to gather your supplies; you will need a new pod, an alcohol wipe, the insulin that your doctor prescribed, and a warm, wet cloth. Now it is time to remove your old pod from its site. You do this by first selecting “home”, then “more actions”, and finally “change pod” in your personal diabetes manager, “PDM”. Your PDM screen will ask you to confirm your decision to change your pod. Next, wait till you hear two beeps. After the beeps, you can remove your old pod. This step is made easier when you apply a warm, wet cloth to the edges of the pod surrounding. Once your old pod is removed, dispose of it properly. Now return to the status screen of your PDM.
