After completing my cultural assessment in class, I had to find a time to interview my mother, Kimberly. Luckily, this past week she has been out of school on spring break so it was easier for her to have the time to answer all the questions. I called her Tuesday March 29th around two o’clock in the afternoon. She was just finishing mopping the kitchen floor and was sitting down to eat. She told me that I could ask her the questions while she ate.…

The person I chose to interview for the second assignment was my mother, Casey Pike. I chose to interview my mother because I have witnessed her deceive my father and sometimes have been involved in the lie. Since then, he has gotten a new job, but with the fluctuating oil and gas business he has become extremely tight with money despite the fact that we now have the money to spend it more freely.…

Prior to conducting this experiment, I had very solid views of what I thought to be my major traits. The way that I viewed my major traits was the way that I figured everyone else that I came into contact with also observed them, but as was found out from the questioning of three individuals, I found that the way people view me varies. For this experiment, I first came up with a list of six traits that I felt very strongly defined me. Second, I asked three people to come up with at least six traits that they would use to describe me, for the people interviewed I used one person with whom I see everyday, another was a person whom I have seen occasionally such as at social events like family gatherings, and finally I interviewed a person with…

Middle Adulthood is the time from ages forty to sixty-four, when individuals know that aging is unavoidable and new challenges are awaiting them (Belsky, 2013, 363). Many older adults are facing life milestones such as marriage, parenting, advancing in their careers, grand-parenting, and eventually retiring (Belsky, 2013, 366). As they age they are also experiencing physical, cognitive, and psychosocial changes that they have never had to deal with before. In order to understand what these middle adulthood life events are like, I interviewed my lovely neighbor, M.K.W. M.K.W. is sixty-two years old, experiencing the end of her middle adulthood phase, and approaching her retirement phase. She has been my neighbor for the past five years and has always been very friendly and approachable.…

I have had varying years of experience in supervision. I obtained my master’s degree before starting the clinical psychology program at pacific and worked providing services to young pregnant and parenting teens in conjunction with my academic studies. Up until this point in my career, I will have to say that I have had great supervisors. While every interaction was not smooth sailing, I definitely learned a lot along the way and am grateful for all the mentors who have shaped me to be the clinician and women I am today. I entered the field at a very young age and have had my share of mentors but looking back, I see that I have learned something from each one…

When I was in fifth grade, people often asked me what I aspired to be when I grew up. I said that I wanted to be a professional soccer player, despite my being the clumsiest girl on the field. I was asked again at my middle school graduation. And even though I was only five feet tall, I said that I wanted to be a supermodel. Halfway through my high school career, I told the curious questioner that I would one day be a child advocacy lawyer.…

My interviewees included my grandfather Gregory Mears Bailey Sr., my grandmother, Martha Bailey, my father Gregory Mears Bailey Jr., and my mother Rhonda Hale. I selected to do my father and his parents because the Bailey side of my family predominantly raised me. Although my mother played a role in my life for a time before my parents’ divorce I wanted to also include her side of the family. All of the interviews were conducted over the phone due to distance issues of me being in Ohio and the rest of my family being in Maryland. Overall, my family has primarily been born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland.…

In my now and then adolescence interview I have actually learned a lot more from my great grandmother than I thought I possibly knew. With my grandmother’s and I schedules being so busy lately, it was hard to try to find the right time for us to get together for this interview.
