Outline For The Great Gatsby

As people we all have something we want to change or erase from the past. In the Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, we see how the main character struggles to move on from the past. Jay Gatsby was the ideal persona created by James Gatz, for he did not want to be identified by his past and instead he kept the best bits and changed everything else.

Although he was always a hardworking person, he never settled for what he had. In the story everyone was always speculating where he actually came from. He was someone who was created by rumors, for he was loaded with a mysterious amount of wealth. For example we later discover his true origins and we learn that he came from a working class family. Before we had believed that he was fortunate enough to have come across this wealth, but he had always associated himself with organized crime.
