Lord of the Flies Essay
{HOOK} Lord of the Flies as a novel appears as to feel similar to a great fictional story, or is it. The story seems like a fictional work about how many young children survive on an island with no adults around but it seems as though it becomes less and less fictional. {LINE} After analyzing the text it seems there it feels as if a deeper idea runs behind the story. The central idea that runs through the entire book seems rather consistent as well as true. {SINKER} William Golding uses Jack, Ralph, and the dead paratrooper as symbols to describe a theme in which everyone, even the best of humans, contains evil within themselves.

These fears fake or not, they quickly caused violence, betrayal, and evil to come forth in characters as a result of their large desire to survive. {EVIDENCE} The beast became a fear that sparked by small children eventually plagued all the boys minds. At first this fear was just an illusion, and Simon described it simply. He stated, “...maybe the beast is inside of us” (Golding). {ANALYSIS} This quote proves the description of how humans sometimes scare themselves with imaginary fears. {EVIDENCE} Ralph originally united the boys together in order to keep their lives civil, similar to life back on the mainland and remained nearly incorruptible until his life became threatened. In one passage Golding writes, “Ralph thrust his own stick through the crack and stuck with all his might” (Golding, 179). {ANALYSIS} This appears to be the point where Golding shows that even the best people become corruptible when met with a great evil. Granted, many hold out much longer than such as Ralph while others began evil and selfish since the beginning such as Jack. Civilization sets expectations over many years in order to prevent evil from taking over.On the island however, everything became greatly primal when people began to lose hope of ever becoming saved. {LINK} Therefore evil is a natural occurrence in people everywhere, no matter how decent they seem on the
