Employment legislation covers acts of law acts of the law helped to ensure that employers receive a contract detailing the terms of employment, control working hours, wages, as well as laws to provide regulations to deal with cases of discrimination, unfair dismissal or redundancy.

Laws and Mandates The philosophy of Employment First is “the idea that competitive employment in an integrated setting should be the priority outcome for people with disabilities” (Ohio’s Path to Employment First, 2014). In March 2012, Ohio Govender John Kasich signed into order the Employment First Executive order. With the signing of this executive order, the state of Ohio joined twenty-six other states implementing an official policy or legislation act related to the idea of Employment First. The Employment First philosophy recognizes that “a policy sets the direction, but will not alone improve employment outcomes for people with developmental disabilities.…

I agree with you, the Fair Labor Standard Act is a very important law that help businesses. If this law was not made than many people would be working long hours and work for low pay because there is no minimum wage set up. For instance, like you said the citizens in Korea working 12 hour shifts in a day seems very unethical and unfair, but they have no law that prevents this situation from occurring. On the other hand, this law can be harmful to businesses because as the years by, new products prices go up and this would cause a raise in minimum wages. This would lead to decrease of revenue on sales for businesses, which would also cause many people to loose there…

Few changes are made from the previous discrimination legislations along with adding new points in the revised and more comprehensive framework. These changes are still continuing, for instance law on discrimination against marriage or partnership status and age was included in equality law framework in 2012. Two major changes are related to the claiming procedure followed if an employee feels harassed due to his age, race, disability, sexual orientation and gender; or victimised against each and every protected characteristics (The Equality Act – What’s new for employers?, 2011). Earlier employees were not allowed to complain if the offensive behaviour was targeted to someone else; under the new act they have got the right to complain even if the victim is someone else. Major additions in the existing framework can be discussed as…

Throughout time laws have come and gone. Many different generations have seen acts that were once considered criminal turn legal, and vice versa. One law that has fluctuated in consistency and rule since 1938 is the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The FLSA is in place to protect workers and is regulated by the United States Department of Labor (DOL). The FLSA encompasses several aspects of the work force that require regulation, including child labor, minimum wage, and overtime pay (Cheeseman, 454).…

I find prosecutions and penalties as one of the most important concerns raised in the report as the issue is that currently we do not have any credible threat of prosecutions for violations of the Labour Relations Act, they are rare and many cases get dismissed or accommodated (C.M. Mitchell., J.C. Murray, pg. 107, 110). This is proven as from the years of 2004-2014 the OLRB had thousands of unfair labour practice complaints filed, but from 10 years only 29 applications were given consent to prosecute and out of those 29 only 3 were granted. (C.M. Mitchell., J.C. Murray, pg. 107). This proves that the LRA does not take these prosecutions or penalties seriously as many employers, business’ or unions avoid any penalties whatsoever.…
