Public health is the specialty of promoting, protecting, and reinstating human health (Nies & McEwen, 2014). In this discussion I will explain who is involved in public health, and what roles they play? I will explain the role of the public health team in the Healthy People 2020 objectives. Finally, I will discuss what I learned in the Outbreak at Watersedge activity, and why team work is important in community health nursing.
The professionals involved in public health are the Epidemiologists, Health Planners, Laboratorians/Microbiologists, Health Educators, Environmental Health Specialists, Public Health Nurses (PHN), and Public Health Information Officers (University of Minnesota, 2007).
