Something that I found interesting about this film is that both Ransom and Tom fit this description. The people in the film and the audience for the most part see Ransom as being the western hero as he comes in with his ideals and tries to fix the place by not only educating the citizens of the town but also finding a way to get rid of Liberty Valance.
