Out Of the Shadows To Somewhere Peaceful
My official birth certificate states that on November 25, 1998, at 11:46 a.m., I was born to Gracie Rangel and Eleasar Falcon. My place of birth of was in Mercy Hospital in Fresno, California. After my birth I went home with my mom. Since I was a child I couldn’t quite remember much of what happened. But I do know a few years after me, my sister, Gabrielle was born. My mom and father weren’t married so my mom left my dad. My mom said that my father refused to stop acting like a teenager and smoked weed and drank all day instead of acting like a father to me. We moved to Idaho and lived with my maternal grandmother. Just that same year my father kidnapped me and moved back to California. Well that’s what I guess it was legally called because I was taken to California without permission from my mom. I would spend days with mom and others

We would go back to Idaho to visit my mom’s family we left behind when we moved. The one summer vacation I sort of remembered well was family reunion. My maternal grandma’s mom was having a week long reunion. Each day of the week was planned out. One day we went to a barbeque and swimming the canals. Then to a water park. There I met so many family members I didn’t know I was related to. The day after the water park we went to a my grandma’s mom’s house to celebrate. Her house was really big and had a really big lawn. The kids were running around everywhere playing with each other. On the last day of the week long celebration, each family would take pictures. When all the pictures were done and over with, we went to my grandma’s house to spend time with her before we left. We had our own barbeque to end the day great. After we said our goodbyes, we were on the road heading back home. And since that summer we haven’t been able to go back so we spent summer at the house with the family we had

So it started out as a normal school day and as we were coming back from lunch we all went to the restroom and only six of us got taken. As we were using the restroom Andrew Myers, Jahzara Mckinney, Kadance Gravely, Maddox Lyons, Hayden Elliott, Kaylie Hawks and myself were pulled into the sewers and through a pipe that somehow took us to a island. We were stranded there by ourselves the island was like a forest in a way it has tall redwood trees high grass like the jungle and a beautiful glossering pond. So as we were there we were all panicking then I just got really quiet. We went to bed and the next morning Hayden and Jahzara were fighting over food we had from killing Andrew we had a lot of food left over from yesterday but both Jahzara and Hayden wanted that same piece.…

Journal Ed Welch talked about how our histories can impact us, particularly in dealing with conflict. God used this to help me see how I approach conflict as a gardener would his garden. I have a family member who approaches it more like a sword-yielding gladiator, and this has led to struggles. Realizing these differences has vastly improved our relationship. A dear friend of mine recently experienced a conflict with another individual.…

As I carry the weight of thousands, Wandering through the hellish landscape, My thoughts turned to what lied ahead, To what may not be tomorrow. From the depravity of humanity, From the thoughts that I can only muster, Brought upon a revelation that made me think, What man has made of man. From the streets decimated to ruins, To the savage folk finding their way, All I can do is pray, That one day the war will end. Armed men outfitted to kill, The gears of bloodshed know no end, Aiming for their arbitrary victory, But none stopping the tides of war.…

Imagine living in a world where you are seen as trash or are disparaged against, your people are being tormented not because of a crime or a horrific action taken by ancestry but because of a physical attribute. This is what the African Americans went through for almost 250 years therefore we are supposed to just accept what the so called land of freedom made of our ancestors, and bask in the glory of America on its day of independence. I find this difficult, for if not the actions taken by the African Americans, and pro freedom whites, we would still be in slavery to this day. In all of the Americas history a mass outbreak of slavery has happened twice and each time the vaccine took years to bring any sign of change. First it was…
