For my service project I organized a group of volunteers to help at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's annual Out of the Darkness Walk. The walk took place on September 24th at Highland Park in Washington. In total there were 402 walkers that raised approximately 18,281 dollars toward suicide prevention. As volunteers we helped set up, passed out food, helped with the coloring station and cleaned up. On January 27, 2011 I lost my brother in law to suicide and it was devastating. Since then i’ve had a passion for raising suicide awareness.
