Out of state tuition: A problem unsolved Most students after graduating high school plan to attend a college or university. They work hard in and out of the classroom just so they can get into their dream school. However, college tuition is not affordable, especially if you are out of state. A large problem for many college students are the cost of tuition and yearly tuition increases. Students should be able to graduate school and get their degree without being thousands of dollars in debt. The big problem here is the out-of-state tuition costs and what can be done to be lowered. With Laura’s hometown being in Rhode
Island she aspires on going to school out-of-state because her state does not have the athletic training program she was looking for. “According to the 2015 University of Georgia Fact Book, out of state students pay an estimated $18,210 more in yearly tuition and fees.” (Withrow and
Owens) “Falling in love with University of Georgia was the easy part. Figuring out tuition and costs were the hard part. I had put my deposit down at a different school because it was the cheaper option, but I just did not feel as if I belonged there. My family to do a lot of rearranging, budgeting and I had to do a lot of begging, but thankfully I am here today” says

The state of North Dakota has been a very positive influence on the state of Maine. Public colleges and universities in North Dakota has intentions to cut out-of-state tuition to spur economic growth. Joseph McDonnell, is the dean of College Management and Human Service at the University of Southern Maine. He describes what it’s like living in a state that has a declining number of students graduating from high schools and how many young people are leaving
