Robert, from the book Out of Shadows written by Jason Wallace, demonstrated several practices associated with his culture. This book is about a boy named Robert who moved from Europe to Africa. He has to go to a boarding school, where he lives far away from his family. Robert was going through hard times and soon creates strong friendships with kids there. These kids help comfort Robert with how to cope with these tough times. One of the practices in the book is shown by Robert’s friend Ivan. Ivan valued hospitality. For example, in the book, it states, “I’ve got nowhere, then; I’ll have to come back here after the rugby on my own.” (Wallace 43).
