My favorite worship song would have to be “Out of Hiding” by Steffany Gretzinger. The first time I heard it, I was at The Oaks Freedom Weekend and the Lord was setting me free from several things that were holding me back that I didn’t even realize were present. He was breaking away identity issues that others placed on myself and He renamed me as worthy and chosen. This song is dear to my heart because it reminds me of that day and also the point of view of The Father singing over His children. The Lord has set us free (2 Corinthians 3:17) and we have victory found in Him alone (1 Corinthians 15:57), which corresponds to the next line of the chorus, “Now rid of the shackles, my victory is yours”. The conclusion of the chorus states that the because the veil was torn, we all have complete access into the Presence of God whenever we want to (Matthew 27:51, Hebrew 10:19). The next verse focuses on the idea of the Lord being our light in the darkness, so throw off the fear that is holding you back to run fully into the Father’s arms (Matthew 14:22-23, Hebrews 12:1, 1 John 4: 18). The song ends with the encouragement that we are almost home, so persevere, we are almost home with Jesus. This truth could be displayed with the good shepherd looking for his lost sheep to return home with him (Matthew 18:12-14) or even the prodigal son returning home to his father and the father runs to him joyfully in celebration of his return home (Luke 15:20-24). This song is so
