It could have been because he wanted everyone in the diner to change, and be open minded like him. John wanted the people in the diner to have the same prescriptive that he has, and to treat everyone the same with equality. John didn’t judge any one in the diner based on appearance, to him that didn’t matter what they are, the color of their skin, or how they look. John noticed that he was getting mistreated and told Sally, “I seldom have the chance to show our friendliness to an ordinary Earth person. I make so little difference!” (Kress 584). This concludes that John did go to Earth for a reason to make a difference and change the way the people in the diner view aliens. John just wants the people in the diner to admire his kindness. Sally looks past that John is an alien. She likes John, she attended and served John like a human being, even when her boss didn’t want her too. Everything all changed once the government men went to go take John away. Charlie and Kathy both got into Sally’s head. They both Manipulated Sally and began to tell Sally things about John. That just goes to show that she let other people’s opinions get to her. She quickly changed her mind about how she truly felt, and how she saw John as an
