The Benefits Of Keeping Secrets

Some of our deepest secrets correlate with our wrongest doings. We hide the truth with the hope of either keeping ourselves from trouble or protecting someone from the truth. We make these decisions out of spite or personal pleasure not considering its long term effects. We believe that the truth won 't come out and we will succeed in getting away with it. It is not usually the fact that we lied that makes us upset but the fact that we got caught. Secrets are not exclusive to a certain age or race but utilized by everyone. They can even be used when we least expect it and by the people we least expect.

In the past we have had trouble with presidents lying and overstepping their powers. President Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton were impeached due to the extreme secrets. President Richard Nixon overstepped his power by bugging opponents offices and using special government security equipment to get information. He made the choice to lie and keep secrets in order to get ahead in his career. President Bill Clinton did it with another motive in mind. Clinton had done what he did purely for personal pleasure. Clinton had been having an affair with another woman and while in court lied about the affair. While he was impeached for lying under oath but not the affair, it was the affair that was his biggest secret. These leaders of our country just go to show that everyone has their secrets.
