“‘Get out of the way, all of you!’...The children flinched and stepped back abruptly. I was taken by surprise too. I turned around in my chair and saw a boy sitting at the desk at the back of the middle row; he was solidly planked down there and he looked at us with a certain resignation’(6). This quote shows that people use their power to intimidate people to get them to listen and boy them. In the book Our Twisted Hero by Yi Munyoi, Om Sokdae, the antagonist, is the twisted hero. Om is the twisted hero because although his intentions are meant to be bad he carries them out to look good. Han, the protagonist experienced this with Om on the first day of school. When Om was asking questions to see if he had to worry about Han being a threat for not being under his manipulation and control like others. “‘Han Pyongat’ae, you said right? Come here.’ He spoke again in that same soft but firm voice was all; he didn’t move a finger; and yet I found myself getting up. Such was the strange effects his eyes had on …show more content…

In the words of Gail Devers, “Sometimes we fall, sometimes we stumble, but we can't stay down. We can’t allow life to beat us down. Everything happens for a reason, and it builds character in us, and it tells us what we are about and how strong we really are when we didn’t think we could be that strong.” In the nonfictional, Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, Louie Zamperini, being the clever man he is, demonstrates Dever’s words though the 36’ Olympics, a treacherous trek in the Pacific, and in many Japanese POW camps. The overall theme I found in Freak was that no matter what, it is good to be different and to stand out. No one is the same and don’t try to change yourself to be like other people. Even though it might get hard because you don’t fit the “standards,” don’t try to be like others. You are beautiful just the way you are. At the beginning of the book, Miriam said it herself, ‘“It’s good to be weird.…

“Don’t get my personality and my attitude because my personality is me, and my attitude depends on you” When the person ( I do not know the name of the person who created this quote) said this quote , it describes the way Om , the antagonist in the Our Twisted Hero book acts towards others at school. People generally think that bossy people tend to be more pushy, annoying , but in Our Twisted Hero , Om takes it to another level. The Main point is that Om uses coercion on students to get what he wants because he was elected as class monitor. For instance , there was one incident when Han , the protagonist in the story was cleaning the windows , Om then walked up to Han and told him that he’s not doing a great job at cleaning the windows.…
