“Fears are nothing more than a state of mind.” This quote from Napoleon Hill show fear is a way of manipulating. To successfully manipulate someone, you need to strike fear and change their mind state. In the book Our Twisted Hero by Yi Munyol, Om, our antagonist, is the twisted hero. In order for Om’s twisted plan to be executed correctly, he must complete the three main steps; Striking fear, Manipulation, and Disturbing others.
Fear has been struck into the other classmates by Om by manipulating them in Our Twisted Hero. “Didn’t you know? Hwang Yonsu probably did the Korena exam in the last period. ‘What? And what happens to you fellow?’ We get Sokdae’s grades. When you his art assignments for him, you can wait for the right moment and present two pictures, but that won’t do for an exam, will it? The only way is to change grades with Sokdae” (76). Since Om has manipulated the other kids so much, they think that everything is for the best of Om. I guess he had divined the exact nature of my tears.” Cleary Om is a twisted hero based off his action with Han in this incident. He’s trying to change Han’s mind state just like the others to gain more power & control over
