How Does Social Structure Influence Our Behavior?

Our social structure guides our behavior and attitudes. The aspects under social structure include culture, social class, social status, roles and groups. My culture is the transition period of generation y, the millennials, to generation z. My culture would involve people roughly between ages 16 to 26. This culture got to experience growing up as a kid with playing outside and playing with electronics. The millennial kids grew up with very limited and basic electronics and used imagination for fun. Now, kids are growing up with so many electronic devices that they don’t play the same way the millennial kids did. However, my culture is the in between where we did both. I remember playing outside and making up games with my friends. But I also remember playing video games and getting a phone when I was pretty young. Because of this, I don’t condemn kids nowadays for playing on all of their devices, but I also see the importance to play outside and have a life outside electronics. As I was saying earlier, I do things because my role is as a girl. I shave. I wear dresses. I have learned to do these and other female behaviors because of my role in society. As for groups, each of my groups allows me to see things from different points of view. My friends outside of work can have a new perspective of a problem going at work than my fellow employees. My family can have a different idea on how to handle work than my co-workers and friends that don’t work with me. Therefore, I can get all these different ideas on how to handle one situation and that drastically affect my behavior.
