Public Relations Officer: A Case Study

As our Public Relations officer, Angie Chacko, was involved in every aspect of our chapter including the Honors in Action topic. She was not involved in the research process of the project, but she did help deliver the information to our members and people outside of the chapter. When our chapter set our four step action plan to raise awareness of our HIA topic, Angie took the initiative to spread the word. Even before our brochures containing our research were made, Angie kept a communication channel with the Dean of Student Activities, explaining our topic to other clubs and worked with the HCC district Public Relations department to get our information throughout the HCC system. Angie would bring any information she gathered back to the officer team to keep them updated on what she would be doing and encouraging them to do the same …show more content…
(Response cannot exceed 400 words.) Angie inspired all the officer team and members with her leadership and enthusiasm. She took the initiative many times when other officers were tired from outside responsibilities. Good examples are how she jump-started the execution of events related to HIA 's action, which moved other officers to take on other organizational roles; how she created an ice cream social for the Phi Theta Kappa Awareness Week, which inspired other officers to do the same at their campuses; and how she brought officers, members, and school staff together to work for the school 's benefit in the college project.

After the Texas Leadership Conference, we defined the HIA 's action, but it took some time for the officer team to start with the work. Angie reminded us of our tight time frame and minimal accomplishments. With her inspiring the team, the officers started reaching out to HCC department heads to test different ideas for the HIA 's action, and carried out organizational duties of the HIA events that
