They have programs in business, education, arts and sciences, and the health fields. Their students also have an option to play a variety of sports, they have twelve male sports and eleven female sports (Ottawa.edu). The wide variety of programs and sports give an opportunity for almost anyone to enjoy this school. Ottawa University is still run and operated by Baptists therefore they have a priority that they follow certain guidelines in order to attend the school. Any member of the Ottawa tribe that gets accepted into the college gets the privilege of paying no tuition and no room and board fees. For many students money is a major deciding factor when it comes to deciding where or even if they are going to college. The Ottawa tribe feels that all of their members should be able to go to college just as much now as they did when they first decided to open up the school. This is why they let all tribe members out of paying these fees. The average total that the tribal members are saving by not paying these fee add up to about $30,000 a year (Ottawa.edu). They don’t pay tuition which is $25,000 a year and they also don’t pay the estimated average of $8,000 on room and board each year.
