In order for an OT to perform a screening and an evaluation the parents must ask for a request and explain why they think their child needs to receive services. For instance, a parent at Logan elementary wanted their son to receive speech services because he struggles with communicating with children his own age. However, as the speech therapist sat and observed the child as he socially engaged with others, she noted that his level of interaction was more than a speech impairment.
