Othello by William Shakespeare is a play that has many different variety of themes such as love and marriage, good and evil, religion, racial prejudice, gender conflict, and sexuality. The main character, Othello faces many tragic incidents throughout the play, he faces tremendous consequence that leads to harsh manipulation and deception. I would like to talk about “Why did Othello became a tragic character?”. The play started as Othello as a general in Venetian army, Othello was given the opportunity to have a right-hand man to serve his side but the thing is only one person can be promoted to stay with him. Cassio who became a lieutenant was honor to serve Othello, but Lago becomes furious and jealous that he couldn’t have that position. Iago start to plot out a evil plan to revenge himself against Othello and Cassio. For Lago to get what he wants he formulate an attack against Othello and Cassio, by doing that he manipulate and deceive Othello throughout the whole play. …show more content…
Throughout the scene, Iago a evil person have transform Othello into a jealous and enraged spouse. The scene becomes more and more suspicious when Othello suspect his wife cheating, Othello does not realize that Lago is dishonest and until then it was too late for Othello to recognize the effect Iago’s manipulation and deceit had on him and Desdemona. In the end, Othello couldn't cope with his rage and jealousy against Desdemona, and ultimately he ended her life
