Shakespeare once said, “These violent delights have violent ends and in their triumph die, like fire and powder, which as they kiss consume” (Shakespeare, 1040). I chose this quote because I thought it went with the topic I picked. It means as if you rush into love and do without thinking it will end in a disaster. My essay will be about who I think was at fault for Romeo and Juliet’s death, how they were at fault, and what they did to cause it. I think Romeo and Juliet took part in their own deaths.…

Juliet was a shy girl who didn’t think about marriage or love until she met Romeo which later led to her death. Juliet’s death was caused by things as big as adults not thinking or a prideful cousin to things such as not being able to read. What if Tybalt wasn’t so focused on his pride and the rival between the Capulets and the Montague? Romeo, Mercutio, and Benvolio decided to go a party, the Capulets party.…

However, in order to help Juliet through her "grief" over Tybalt's death, Capulet decides to marry her off to Paris (III, iv). Of course this is a problem as she is secretly married to Romeo at this time. In III, v, Lady Capulet states, "I'll send one in Mantua, where that same banished runagate doth live, that he shall soon keep Tybalt company…" (ll94-96). This statement prophesizes Romeo's death later in the final scene of the play. Then, Lady Capulet wishes her daughter to be married to her grave (ll. 145), which is ironic, as Juliet will take a potion causing her to appear dead in IV, ii. That same evening, the lovers consummate their marriage, and in the morning, Juliet makes yet another prophesy, "O God, I have an ill-divining soul!…

Othello also recalls that Desdemona said, "she wish'd that heaven had made her such a man.” This suggest Desdemona wishes heaven "had made such a man" for her to marry, especially given the fact that she advocates that Othello's stories could "woo" her. Shakespeare’s introduction of the characters allows him to communicate Othello’s calm and composed state of mind as a result of his balanced trust between Desdemona and Iago. Through Othello’s rationale behind loving Desdemona, Shakespeare displays the resulting strong bond of trust between the two and its impact upon Othello’s mental state. Shakespeare’s Othello is one of his most interesting and controversial plays that really gets at the heart of human nature and questions the concept of perception and people’s relationships with one another. In the play, Othello, a successful general in the Venetian military, is led into jealousy and violence towards his wife from the lies of “honest” Iago. Various scholars of the play have attempted to explain Othello’s character and how such a high-status, noble man could have so easily descended into a simple vengeous murderer. Many theorize that behind Othello’s fragile facade of pride and nobility is a deep-rooted insecurity and naivety that leads him to be suspicious, and later, violent.…
