Manipulation is used as a method to gain and accomplish desires. In William Shakespeare’s Othello, manipulation is seen as the biggest influence the destruction of the mighty Othello. Iago is perceived in modern-day to be a subclinical psychopath. Subclinical psychopaths act as pleasurable people but in reality they are different in private.

Emilia knows that Desdemona will lose her identity and sanity when she finds out she lost it. Iago tells Emilia to not tell anyone of the whereabouts of the handkerchief and to leave him alone. Iago begins to set his malice plans against Othello with proof that will enrage Othello. Since Iago’s deep hatred from Othello arises from Cassio gaining position as lieutenant Iago sets the trap to Cassio to wipe Othello’s admiration from him.

Othello keeps asking for proof and Iago tells him since he is so honest and made the mistake of telling Othello is wife is cheating now he must be the hero and give Othello proof to expose his cheating wife, Desdemona. Iago tells Othello how he shared beds with Cassio, and Cassio would mutter Desdemona’s name during sleep. Iago gets what he has been aiming for since the beginning, Othello developed a deep hatred from Cassio and Iago is ordered by Othello to kill
