An Osprey gravitates towards shallow fishing grounds because they are unable to dive more than about three feet below the water’s surface, therefore, their habitat includes almost any shallow fish-filled waters, such as rivers, lakes, reservoirs, swamps, or marshes. It is the only hawk on the continent that eats almost exclusively live fish. They have barbed pads on the soles of their feet, which help them grip slippery fish; furthermore, the Osprey when flying with prey lines up its catch head first for less wind resistance.
